The Apple Effect on the Design Industry
Big Sur, Apple’s new Operarting System presents a new set of redesigned icons, setting once again a new trend for the design industry, as it has done time and again in the past. Apple -no doubt- will influence the globe with its new 3D-ish, round corner-ish design. Gradually, 3rd party Apps will follow to fit-in to this new user ecosystem look, and this trend will impact the world’s top brands logo redesign.
It is no secret that when Apple introduced the flat logo design with the minimal look, eventually most -if not all- leading companies followed it spending millions of dollars adopting this fresh design style. Apple knows it is a trend setter, and uses this power prudently. This is a pure rebranding technique, that will definitely affect the design perspective of things.
a new wave of logo redesign expectancy is around the corner, and both designers and early adopters will have to take advantage of this opportunity...
Winners will be the ones that already had a logo that needed a facelift, losers will be the ones that recently changed it into a flat one, hoping that this trend will last longer. BMW for instance, that changed its logo into a flat one earlier this year, will have to either stick to it for a few years with the risk of being “outdated”, or spend more money to redesign and recommunicate it globally. Plus, changing a logo too often, is not good PR for the company Image. The fact remains that a new wave of logo redesign expectancy is around the corner, and both designers and early adopters will have to take advantage of this opportunity and go for it…
