Xiaomi had more than 50.000 orders during the first half hour of disposing its brand new SU7 (or 30 orders per second). Within three years, the Chinese colossal phone maker built from scratch a beautiful EV car (in its own production plant), with spectacular specs and innovations in 5 sectors: Motor, platform, battery, intelligence, OS experience!!
Technologically more advanced than a Tesla, and directly competing with a Porsche Taycan (some say wishful thinking) at half price, will definitely be a game changer in the EV market. Especially in Europe where the domestic car makers like Mercedes, realized they have a hard time competing with Chinese electric auto makers, and admitted to further prolong the petrol engines and hybrid cars production despite their previous (opposite) statements …

BYD, another Chinese (battery maker) giant also produces EV cars. After overtaking Tesla in sales numbers globally (Q4 2023), it expands to Europe with its NEV and hybrid models. Incorporating the blade battery -a revolutionary safety technology- among several other innovations, the marque aims to redefine EVs: Well designed, premium EV cars, more affordable than its European rivals, already available in more than fifteen EU markets… (Sfakianakis Group just became the official distributor for Greece 🤞).

Togg, the new Turkish EV manufacturer with a very interesting car line is about to knock our European door and offer a competing alternative due to lower logistics (shipping, storing and distributing) costs compared to the Chinese imports. Rumor has it that Togg cars will also incorporate Greek craftmanship elements 👏

With these and many more EV manufacturers in the market (like Lynk & Co, NIO, Xpeng, Li Auto, AITO, AVATR, etc), even Tesla is directly threatened. It remains to be seen for the European auto makers if this battle is worth fighting for and if the current level of EV cars production and use makes them truly sustainable or not.
